What are your opinions on it? I saw it at the store last week and passed, due to lack of familiarity. I believe it is 100% agave, but to me it seems pretty bottom-shelf. Your thoughts/experience?

I've always associated it with fun Friday nights and a horrible morning after.

I grossed over eight thousand dollars in one night. Time of your life, huh kid?
That answers my question right there!
Horrible stuff.
I've only had about 4 Mezcals and I dont like the smoke.

In college, my buddy and I did a mezcal trip twice a year. We'd split the bottle, then split the worm. Monte Alban was my favorite, though it is like drinking a smokey cactus.
It's really meant to be consumed when you're ready to let go of your responsibilities and cause some serious damage to yourself and nearby property. One of the last times I did it, I threw up 9 times, and that was BEFORE we left for the party. The rest of the night was a mixture of hazy screaming and drunken arguing. I woke up near/in a bush.

Monte Alban...I'd say no. Plenty better Mezcal's out there. If it has a worm, and says ,"Mezcal"....I'd say avoid unless you seek out painfull headaches.![]()
I've had Monte Alban and it is alright but my favorite is Cuzano Rojo. I can only get this in Mexico anymore. I was walking around Cancun with two bottles of it when a local came up to me and asked what I was doing with two bottles of "rat poison". Shows what I know about Mezcal. I like it however. Has a butterscotch finish.

I hear that the Del Magueys are very good mezcals, but pricey.
Monte Alban is the Jim Beam White of mescals. But then I've never really been enamored with this category anyway.
