Suggestions for Mint Juleps?

I am having a party at the house for the Belmont Stakes (my pick is Drosselmeyer BTW) and I am looking to mix up a large batch of Mint Juleps. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on #1 the best cheap bourbon to buy for mixers, and #2 if there is a good recipe for mixing it in a large quantity (my wife makes a great julep, but she makes them one at a time).

Old Grand Dad 86-proof makes a great mixed drink and is quite inexpensive.

Don't know if they have it where you live, but Maker's Mark puts out a pre-made version. Green wax topped liter. Maybe call a couple places and ask about it. Joe

Makers Mark is my Julep bourbon of choice. To me its lightness suits the cocktail well. There used to be a great video of Bill Samuels mixing up a whole 1 litre bottle of julep mix on utube, but I can't seem to find it now.

If you want to go hybrid, you can make a batch of mint-infused simple syrup. You can then assemble individual drinks in about the time it would take to pour premixed, and you won't end up with extras.

Thanks for the suggestions! We ended up doing a Mint Julep Punch that we found a recipe for on the internet, and I used Fighting Cock as the bourbon because it was the BOTM and I wanted to try it. Turned out great.

PS - If any of you took my advice and bet on Drosselmeyer in the Belmont, you are welcome!

A bit late, but I want to share this anyway: Early Times website was where I first learned about mint julep. I tried my first mint julep with Early Times bourbon, applying the full instructions on their website. The result was perfect for me. It tasted great. However, instead of preparing a mint infused syrup first as advised on the website, nowadays I prefer adding sugar directly. When it comes to Early Times bourbon, I know Early Times I bought here was different from that in the US, since they sell the "bourbon" only in the export markets and not in the US. I can not see it on the shelves here for the latest 2-3 years, though.
