Luxist reports that New Holland Brewing of Holland, MI
is making a product called Hatter Royale Hopquila - a
cross between a beer and a spirit.

New Holland website says it's a "...fermented wash of 100%
barley is twice distilled, then steeped with Centennial hops.
The vivacious spirit features a grain-centric body framed by
citrus-laden hop character in the nose and finish."

I also remember Lost Pollito Joe talking about having a hoprita once.

Anyway, I have an open bottle of this. It's interesting, and good. It is not quite a tequila flavor but it's close enough for mixed drinks and even drinking neat. It's pretty affordable too. I think it's good that New Holland is taking risks and realeasing them widely when they pay off. Plenty on the shelves here too.
