I've since moved up the ladder to Buffalo Trace.

I am now kicking myself for passing this by so many times after a bad bottle a couple years ago. This one is GREAT.

^ Yes, indeed! BT is my daily pour and as my screen name suggests I'm very fond of it. Amazing drink.

(Although this evening I'm starting out with Weller SR.)

10 year Old Fitzgerald 101 which looks to have been bottled in 1985 and Jefferson's Presidential Select Batch 1. The JPS is more complex and tasty but the Old Fitz 101 could be a bit comprimised by evaporation. When found on the dusty store shelf, it had a low fill level even though the faux tax strip and cork were secure and tight with no apparent leakage.

Spent the last 5 days in on Mt. Desert in Maine with family.... found a few bottles of grandads stash in the basement... enjoyed a 1975 Benchmark 6yo and a 1968 Old Crow 86 proof....

Elijah Craig Single Barrel 18yo, neat.
I got some samples from fellow SB.com member Rod aka Halifax.
This EC18 was barreled 1-31-92 and so far it's the best EC I have ever had.
The nose reminds me of black plums and rasins and a hint of ripe pear.
After my first sip I thought, "Parker, you devil!", none of that HH mint, it's not dry or woody which is suprising at it's age, orange peel like in a Manhattan, if there was such a thing I'd say maraschino dates.
Long finish, again no wood, tannins or dryness, like a heavy red wine it never goes away.
I'm glad he sent up two 50ml's of these and I'm gonna be on the look out for 1-31-92.
Don't know what I can send him to top this, I'll start thinkin' about it.

Tonight it will be my favorite, Old Charter 10 yr old. I sure am tempted to crack the seal on one of those jugs of of OC 12 yr old, but I will wait.

Although it's all of 65 degrees here, I felt like enjoying an easygoing, summertime pour, so am drinking Mellow Corn BiB over ice. This is a very enjoyable whiskey -- especially considering its price, the fact that the label looks to have remained unchanged for 60 years, and its almost watery color. It's really viscous, too.
