Ewsb 2000

Hey all,

Wondering what your opinions were about EWSB 2000. This is the first bottle I have had, as I have been drinking 98's and 99's. I must say I was very underwhelmed. Poured my first glass, and the initial smell was of tasty caramel. Then I took my first sip. The first word that popped into my head was 'chemical'. After a few more sips, actually poured it out (something I have rarely done with any bourbon).

I hope maybe after it gets some air to it I'll see some changes. If not, I'm probably going to dump it down the drain......

Anyone else notice this taste?

I greatly prefer the 2000 to the 1998 and 1999, but that's why we say "your mileage may vary."

They are, however, unquestionably different, probably the greatest deviation over a couple year period ever.

The 2000 may grow on you.

Don't give up hope, I've had a few bottles I wasn't overly fond of... but they either grew on me or they opened up to fantastic bourbons. The biggest one was a bottle of ER101 that tasted VERY off... but as it opened up and sat a bit became pretty great stuff.

I disliked the OF repeal bourbon at first, but it's grown on me... hang in there!

Yeah, but the diaper profile was hardly limited to a region or a few barrels.

I have a bottle of the 2000, and like it alot... I'd let it sit for awhile, try again later. The alcohol bite seems to separate itself from the the other flavors. I do get a little pepper spice on the tip of my tongue that's a bit sharp...

Thanks for all the responses. I tried again a few days after opening, and I noticed an improvement. The chemical taste had subsided, and it seemed to be a bit smoother. On the road now, so I'm looking forward to getting home and havin' another 'snort'.... .
