Hello everyone, another Brisbane based bourbon lover here!
Its great to see an online community dedicated to Bourbon!
However its also depressing reading about all the Stateside members dusty hunts and rare finds, overall cheap liquor prices compared to Australia etc.

The knowledge here is unbelievable and i've enjoyed reading through the topics so decided to join.

Im only 23 but have been enjoying bourbon for 8 years.. I pretty much exhausted tasting the majority of bourbon available here in Australia and branched out into importing my juices about 6 months ago and have come to enjoy some pretty special ones in that time.

I guess ill be seeing you around!

Welcome aboard, we have a pretty good Australian constituency here. One of which is Morgan ( Pieface) who reminds on a regular basis how spoiled us Americans are when it comes to bourbon. Even one of the moderators on this site is Australian. You guys get it in the short end from Fortune Brands (Jim Beam/Markers Mark) on a pretty consistent basis. My favourites so far have been EWSB 1998, WTRB and Bookers. I also had a Jack Daniels Single Barrel which was particularly good.

The JDSB promted me to impulse purchase a Silver Select when i saw it on the shelf, which i was extremely dissapointed. The JDSB had a great long lasting fruity finish, whereas my SS bottle lacked any kind of depth and finish that i loved from the SB.. I guess thats why i became so interested. There can be such differences from bottle to bottle.

My least favoured bottles have been as mentioned before the JDSS also Blantons SB and WT 12yo. I tried the 12yo before my bottle of Rare Breed so was a bit apprehensive in buying the rare breed. My GF happened to gift it to me for Christmas and i was very pleasantly surprised.

So in my short experience ive had let downs followed by really good bottles and a good drop followed by a disappointing one.

@camduncan - What local finds could you point me towards? Ive already found a BT and am aware of Crubar and 5th elements crudely high prices. Also purchased a WT Tradition from the airport about 5-6 weeks ago

Below is the current availability in Australia (to the best of my knowledge).... The exceptions to this are what can be found at 'botique' type stores like crubar, Burwood Cellars and www.nicks.com.au I don't include them in my list as they are single store outlets and don't have national coverage. Their range can also vary from month-to-month.
