    Newbie in Louisville

Just got approved and will try this medium. 26 year Navy vet, been in Louisville since 1991. Been working a Navy support contract since 1996. Scotch drinker all my life until my wife got me tasting Bourbon, especially at Westport Whiskey and Bourbon's Bistro. We have started a collection and now have over 130 labels. Favorite and best deal is Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 year. The 3 Pappys are excellent, too. Issue now is where to find Angels Envy on Oct 10th.

Welcome to SB Dick. You have 130 different labels? Heck, you're not a newbie. Just kidding. Hope you like it here. This is a great site to learn about bourbon, meet some new friends, and have some fun along the way. Glad you joined us. Cheers! Joe

Welcome aboard, and thank you for your service.

I don't have any advice for someone with your collection, I'll come to you when I have questions.

Oh, NO. I have light-years to go. I try to attend as many tastings as possible here and in the last year, have enjoyed the company of guys like Kevin Smith and Bill Samuels, Julian VW, Jimmy Russell, and Jim Rutledge. I am lucky to have a liquor store in my neighborhood that routinely has all these guys in to show off their latest wares and "allow" us to purchase their recent releases. Also an opportunity to get them to sign the bottles. Bad thing about the collection is that I don't open the bottles. When we want to sample a particular brand, I usually go to Bourbon's Bistro and tap their supply! I keep an open bottle of Lot B for my personal use. My wife is partial to the PVW 15 year.
