    Hello from Tennessee

Brand new to the "Bourbon World", but I am reading and trying to learn as much as possible. My current favorite is Buffalo Trace. I recently purchased the book " The World's Best Whiskies" and have seen a few other brands mentioned in the book that I am going to try. So many bourbons, so little time !

Welcome sir! Currently, BT is also my fav. But it sounds like both you and I have about the same novice bourbon taste.

Welcome on board, Marine Dad! Where in Tennessee?

Buffalo Trace is a splendid whiskey at a good price. It is not for sale here in Hawaii, so whenever I'm on the mainland I try to pick up a bottle and bring it back in my checked luggage.

    Cheers!

Welcome to the Board Marine Dad!

BT is a staple at my house, very good for the price.

Chuck Cowdery started a good beginner thread that will lead you in the right direction as you start your journey, if you haven't already read it.

Go see Bard Quillman at Red Dog Wine & Spirits, next to Publix. Or, if you'd like, I'll meet you there sometime and we can discuss 'things'. And/or, should you happen by Columbia-way, PM me and I can meet you at a local store here that has a very good bourbon/American whiskey/whisky, in general, selection.
Alas, I'm no longer able to provide tasting opportunities as I once did. My memory of them will have to suffice.

Greetings from the Chatta-vegas area. Welcome to SB! Great group of people.

Be sure and try to get to some of the bourbon events in Kentucky in 2011 - you're just down the road.

    Thanks for everyone's welcome.

Tim, I have been going to Cool Springs Wine and Spirits in Franklin. I have been buying the BT for 19.99 for 750ml. They seem to have good prices compared to other places I have been to in Nashville.

I did go in there tonight to see if they had some Bernheim, but no luck.
Would Weller be the next best option for a wheater ? Also thinking about trying a rye. Any rye suggestions for a newbie ?

    First, welcome to SB.

Second, Weller would be a better choice. Old Weller Antique NAS is wonderful even though we may not know its age.

    Enjoy!
