What bourbon are you drinking in Australia? - Summer 2011

Out of curiosity are there any commonly available wheaters down here other than Makers?

I can get my hands on William LaRue Weller, Van Winkle Family Reserve, Old Rip Van Winkle and Cabin Still. I wouldn't say they are readily available, ie in most liquor stores.

But I am on the West Coast. May be the guys on the East coast might have better availability.

I can get Bernheim which although is not a wheater - is one of my fav pours.

None of those are readily available on the East Cost, but can be found in 1 or 2 specialty stores. You'll also pay anywhere from 3-10 times the US prices, depending on the store.

As for Bernheim, it's the only wheat whiskey made in the US.... so I guess you could call it the only true wheater
