Well, round bottles fit in the extra large cup holders of my car better, but I don't own a car, so square is better.
Buying a square bottle to share with your date shows you really care.
Fits better in a case box. Doesn't roll around in the bottom of my canoe.
Me being on Chuck's ignore list, he won't see this, but what the hell.
Speaking from experience, I'd have to say it's because the empties don't roll around as much on the pickup bed.

Square bottles seem to fit tighter on the state store shelves- hence why they have about 8000 per store.

A couple of you got it. The formal answer is, "because square bottles don't roll around on the floor of your pick-up." Before everyone else copied the square bottle from Jack Daniel's, that was the customary explanation for why JD was in a square bottle.

Because when you work behind a bar and a fight breaks out, as a bartender you want to grab the square bottle to crack someone over the head with. He'll go down like a sack of potatoes and the bottle will still be intact as opposed to a round one.![]()
Interesting you mention JD Chuck about that Chuck. When I was at a Johnie Walker tasting/promotion they menioned that his unique square bottle was made because it was easier for packaging and transport. He could transport more whisk(e)y that way with less breakage, that's what I heard.
I am sure everyone did their own thing on each side of the pond.
