This is the ten-year-old kind, I think (the only description on the bottle is "Full Ten 10 Years Old" right under the name, on a gold label, 86 proof). It's pretty damn good for a ten dollar bottle.

Yes, I used to drink that about 30 years ago. It was 90 proof, then. All I can get now is the 10-Star, which most of us agree is not nearly as good.

    Thanks, Tim

Henry McKenna Single Barrel (#170, barreled on 11/19/90).

This may be my new favorite Heaven Hill whiskey -- or maybe I'm merely in a very gracious mood this afternoon. After I get to know this one better, I'll take a stab at posting mini-notes. My first impression is that it's somewhere between EC 12 and my bottle of EWSB '92, which is almost exactly what I was hoping for. A self-fulfilling prophesy, perhaps?

Note to Bettye Jo: The extra steps that go into the bottling operation for this one must be either a source of pride or a source of aggravation -- maybe both. Was that particular shade of green (of the felt) selected for its similarity to the color of bluegrass?

    Yours truly,
    Dave Morefield

AAA 10yo is one of the best bargains out there. I used to drink it a lot. The was during the BS period. (Before Stagg)

    George T. Stagg

In an attempt to recreate my epiphany from last night, and to celebrate Jim's news that Stagg will become a permanent fixture on bourbon shelves, I poured the last of a bottle. Good as ever though the magic hasn't begun yet. I think I need to pop open another bottle, hold on...

    Oh hell yeah!

    Re: Framed Bourbon Labels Photo

Is Heartland Decanters in Lebanon, KY? I found a reference to them with Google.

Then I went to Ebay to look for bourbon labels. There's a person from Lebanon selling nearly the same batch of labels that my wife put in my frames. (I am at my parents' and its late, so I can't ask her if that's the person she bought from.)

    I wonder if there's a connection?

Well, I wasn't going to tip a bottle tonight. But, after reading about Weller 19 yo going away, I just had to crack open the bottle I coincidentally bought this evening in WV on the way to my parents'.

My allergies kicked in with the change of location, so I don't know if I have all my senses. But, the Weller tastes unlike anything I've had before. It's very interesting and I really like it. I just can't figure out yet what I like about it. I'll see if my allergies calm down tomorrow and check it out again.

It's in Lebanon Junction Ky. Thats about 8 or so miles from Clermont. I posted a link somewhere in here in the past. Google heartland decanters should get to it. They have some neat stuff there and reasonable, I would expect prices to be firm during the Festival. however.
Side note, I may grab another Weller 19 , It isn't a favorite of mine. When Linn pointed out that it had already been passed over by Mr. VanWinkle, well that sort of started the downhill slide. It is interesting and probably worthwhile,I feel kind of unenthused for this one.

    Re: Framed Bourbon Labels Photo

Found Heartland via Google this time. The first time I tried "Heartland Decanters" with the quotes. The quotes are what did me in. The second time, I did the search without the quotes and got to their web site. On the web it is called Heartland of Kentucky Decanters and Steins.

    Heartland of KY

I also went back to Ebay and saw that the seller I mentioned earlier is also from Lebanon Junction.

I guess I have been down I-64 too many times and just dropped the "Junction" without thinking. I know now that Lebanon Junction is off I-65 and is different from Lebanon off I-64.
