What are you STILL drinking right now

Yesterday I had a little OFBB, as in life is too short............ I think I'll have Weller 19 today. I thought I didn't care if I ever had any more of it at all, then I noticed that somehow I have managed to get a bottle pulled down to half. I must like this more than I am willing to admit.

The weather, it is a good day for rocks, yesterday was as well!

Needless to say, here in Las Vegas, bars (especially those in casinos) don't close for anything, let alone election day. I usually need a stiff drink before I drink anyway.

I finally got it with the Weller 19, It just hit me today. The nose and a lot of bourbons are similiar but this transported me back in time sometimes I would accompany my Granddad at Beams and I remember pressing my face against the screens at the bottom of the warehouse and get a whiff of all that wonderful bourbon aging. Of course there wasn't any wheaters there but it seemed so much like I remembered it. There's something about the way the air circulates in those houses, even on a very hot day you get a cool blast at ground level. The Weller, it occured to me what a shame it would be to fall in love with this one at the bottom of your last bottle. Better bunker a few!

A very good night, with a good pace of different bourbons throughout the evening.

After work, I sat on the back porch with a book and ORVW 10 yo. Supper was ready, I left the book and ORVW on the porch and picked up the rest of the original ORVW pour for dessert and knocked off a couple more chapters.

The neighbors gathered next door in the driveway. I waited awhile to have another. But, my neighbor was smoking a Macanudo, so when he went for another beer, I picked Stagg to stand up to the smoke.

A little while later, they all wanted bourbon after taking a whiff of the Stagg, so I brought out Buffalo Trace and we all had a drink before closing it out for the night.

To some young folks, this may seem boring, but for me at my stage in life, it was a very fine evening.

Sounds like one hell of a good time to me. I wish I had bourbon-drinking Macanudo-smoking next door neighbors. Some guys have all the luck

Weller 12yo . I wanted to get a couple bottles of the 19yo, but Leslie was with me. It will be better for my general happiness if she doesn't know that Weller 19yo isn't a $19 bourbon I have gone about 10 days without a bottle of the 12yo and it has been hard lived

Earlier today I heard a blues tune on the radio, It had the line, " Life is no good if you're not with the people you love." more or less. I think we can all relate to that on some level. I raise a glass of Stagg to the people that give meaning to my life , and to those who give the same to you.

Bobby, I had a similar experience with my bottle of Wathen's. Only in the last three drinks did I come to really appreciate it. The first (most) part of the bottle reminded me of Evan Williams. Once I "got it", it seemed to be very similar to Pappy 20 or Eagle Rare.

I will have to go out of state, again, to get another bottle.

I liked everything about Wathens from the get go, Before Stagg I thought all I would ever need was a case of Wathens in the bunker. However, The price on Wathens is creeping up about 3 bucks in 3 years. It will soon break 30 if that holds. I saw somewhere that Medley is getting to the bottom of his whiskey and will have to get it made by someone else( Will it be more Heaven Hill in a different bottle? Love the Hill but give me Evan and Elijah!)
