    Thoughts on evan williams 1783

I haven't had this one since it changed from the 10 year a while back. Is it worth the money? What are your thoughts?

IMO a waste of $$$. The weakest of the entire EW line.

I used to use it as a value pour and an example of how you didn't have to spend a lot of $ for good juice. But after a blind test a few months back that saw it come in way last out of 6 pours priced similarly I have changed my opinion. Save your $ and try something else first. As always JMHO and YMMV.

I drank it when it was 10 years old. When they removed the age statement they lost me.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and be the voice of opposition. I bought my first bottle of this recently and enjoyed it quite a bit. While it would be considerably better at a higher proof, it's good and very good for the money. A friend of mine tried 1783 in the past and found it cloyingly sweet, but really enjoyed the pour he got from my bottle. I don't know if I got lucky or not, but this bottle has a great corn husk flavor with a vanilla/caramel background and a pleasing hint of tobacco in the finish. It's very inexpensive, so I say if you're interested give it a try. If you don't like it, you can send me the leftovers

Jeff Yeast nailed the palate years ago! I haven't tried it in recent years, I wonder if it is the same.

It is probably the best of the ew line along with the bib. I have not notcied a change with the age statement being gone, I only rarely am able to get it as it is not sold in NY.

Yes, that was his term to describe the taste.

I hope it hasn't changed taste because it was so unique (even if not quite 10 years old).

I like it as a decent, mellow, easy-to-drink pour in the evenings if I'm not looking for something too sophisticated.
If you have anything Michter's or Pennco and would like to sell it or share it with me, please let me know.
