What Bourbon Are You Enjoying, Winter 2011/2012

I finished off a bottle of first-run Baker's bottled in 1992. Man did that bottle drink well. There was only the slightest hint of sour astringency at the outset, but the weeks it had to air out completely vanquished any unpleasantness. It was by far the best Beam product I've ever had. I'll have to try a neat pour at a bar one of these days, but my impression is that the current bottles don't hold a candle. Perfect age, perfect proof, I'd love to find more!

What is your Jim Forrester blend? I've had good luck with Beam Rye and Forester Signature.

Started the night with Beam rye. Went to Baby Saz. Now sipping some Old Fitz BiB.

JB Devil's Cut and OFBB 2010. I'm enjoying the combo better than the components.

After an afternoon of beer and NCAA Hoops at the local wing joint, I'm settling in at home with a private barrel selection of EC18. Yum-Yum.

Last night it was a trio of FR Private Bottles...tonight I'm starting with some Noah's Mill 15yr 1990/2005...This is a killer bottle of bourbon. At 114.3 proof there is little to no heat on the nose or pallet with a very nice long finish. I'd be hard pressed to find a better bottle for $36...thank you Houston for these Gems!

Working my way down the shelf. Started with about .5 oz of Pappy 23, then a generous pour of WR2O, then to VOB to finish the night.

Starting out with a pour of PVW 15 waiting for F1 qualifying to start. Will probably try out the John J. Bowman again after the Pappy.

Had OWA and M46 tonight along with some Jameson and a beer from Rockmill, a local (to me) brewery in Lancaster, Ohio.

I wore my crusty, old IU hat while working in the yard today. Rewarded with a Sweet 16 appearance for the first time in 10 years. So I'm goin' Hoosier on this pour with a W.H. Harrison. Yeah, it ain't great whiskey, but this ain't 1976, either. . Big 10 looking pretty good, so far.
