    Kansas Clean Distilled Whiskey

These guys - Kansas Clean Distilled Whiskey- are offering a solution to the problem of aged whiskey.

Don't use heavy grains like corn, distill a wheat mash in a column still, filter and bottle in a clear bottle with a custom designed font label.

I didn't realize aged whiskey was a problem.

According to this page, "Rather than delivering a young whiskey,
it mixes column distilled wheat grain spirit with more traditional
aged whiskey. The result is something that is neither vodka nor
whiskey, but a half way combination of the two."

    and

"Kansas Clean Distilled Spirit Whiskey tries to straddle the line
between vodka and whiskey, but ultimately delivers a fairly
confused drinking experience. Someone buying this expecting
anything resembling a whiskey will be fairly disappointed..."

"Vodka drinkers may enjoy the additional flavor that Kansas
Clean Distilled Spirit Whiskey delivers, but they would probably
be better served just upgrading their vodka..."

Or there's this page where Fabulous American Beverages founder
Paul Goldman is quoted "I wanted to get whiskey out of the
middle-aged living room and onto the beach and into clubs, which
is why Kansas is equally terrific on the rocks and in cocktails—and
    on any thumping dance floor,...”

I'll admit to trying some "unconventional" drinks but at $30. for
a bottle of 80 proof whatever it is, I'll probably pass.

Being a far cry from a connoisseur with my whiskey experince still limited to few brands, I can say that it's the barrel that makes the spirit "whiskey."
Grains, mash, water, stills are all important ok, but without what the barrel gives a whiskey during that maturation period, I don't think it will deserve to be called "whiskey" at all.

We definitely need more whiskey out on a thumping dancefloor.
Anyone in for a dance party at the gazebo in April?

The "Bottle" and "Font" design sections on their website are a real hoot...

I wrote about this when it first came out in November, here. For all intents and purposes, it's vodka, but whiskey is cool now so they figured out a way to put 'whiskey' on the label. I haven't tasted in but feel safe in saying it's crap.

Compared to this stuff, Canadian whisky is George T. Stagg.

I read the Chuck Cowdery Blog religiously, but did not make the connection with your spirit whiskey post.

That's why you are Chuck ...and I'm not.

    Unworthy, unworthy........

I think it's funny how they technically qualify to be a blended whiskey but use "spirit" whiskey as if it somehow sounds better. Same with Rebecca Creek
