I frequently see a Ritt shortage in Chicago. Binny's isn't always my go to store and theres enough whiskey in the bunker that I don't "need" any but when shopping, it's frequently not available.

"Brownest of the brown liquors..so tempting. What's that? You want me to drink you? But I'm in the middle of a trial!" L. Hutz
Distribution is so bizarre - in DC it's everywhere, but in Maryland, which got the PVWs a month before DC, it's completely absent.
Just had my very first Manhattan this evening, made using 2.5 oz Ritt BIB and 1 oz sweet vermouth, with Angostura bitters and 3 Maraschino cherries (concession to the wife). Absolutely delicious! I think Ritt BIB was made for Manhattans. I had it straight afterwards and I swear I could taste the Angostura. It's just perfect for the other ingredients.
I visited my favorite honey hole today, and spied 2 bottles that I had not seen previously . At $15.99 a pop, I bought them both. It was the first time I'd seen them anywhere

No shortage in Ontario either. We've had a pretty consistent supply for at least the past year.
Though at the price we're paying (~$35), I doubt many of you will be crossing the border to fill your boots.
FWIW, I've never not seen it in NYC.
I think we benefit from being so high volume. It's only in one store that I know of, but we always have Weller 12, too, another mid-shelfer that seems to wax and wane elsewhere in terms of availability.
There are two ways of getting home; and one of them is to stay there. - GK Chesterton
Rows and rows of it here in St. Louis at Friar Tucks. And it's GOOD, GOOD, GOOD...

For the Chicagoland crew - I'm driving up on Saturday to attend a fishing Show in the Palatine - I90 and Rt 53 area.
Not looking for any secret honey holes - just someplace close-by that might have a Weller 12 or one of these plentiful Rittenhouse's you speak of... or at least just a larger than average bourbon selection.
I read alot about Binny's but I don't have time to get downtown on this trip.
Thanks!
It used to be a special order in Ohio but they discontinued it. One store in my area had 8 bottles on the shelf when they closed it out and I bought them all!
