Thoughts on Parker's Heritage Collection 27yr??

Been reading for sometime but just started posting, looking forward to hearing what people have to say!

Saw a bottle of this at Costco in Danville, CA for $135. Did a quick search and found that this normally goes for $200ish so I grabbed one. Never had the PHC 27 before, what are people's thoughts on the particular bottling? Also, how many releases of the 27 have taken place, is there a way to tell what release this was from?

    Thanks in advance!

From what I understand, there were t versions of the PHC 27 yr. One was quite a bit woodoer than the other. I do not believe there is a way to tell them apart...

PHC 27 yo was the 2nd release in the series. From what I have read and researched, it was a limited 6,600 bottle release (96 proof) which was vatted into one batch from 100 barrels.

You found a good deal on that bottle at $135! I generally see it for $175-200 but did find a bottle a few months ago for $153. It is getting more difficult to find and is a wonderful whiskey to break out for those special occasions.

My wife and I both think this is one of the greatest bourbons we have tasted. I bought one at the distillery in Bardstown after having a sample there. They are really friendly there, If you tell them that you want to buy a premium bottle they will give you a taste, but you also pay a premium for the bottle, since the distillery cant sell for less than the stores. We found it very creamy and that is why we both like it, the botlle needed some air though to open up. I always buy them for my bunker, these are still going for about retail when I see them, they have not inflated much, and are prone to being on discount. I have gotten 2 more at lower than retail. I still have not seen the deal you got though, great find.

I enjoy it, it's very mellow. Probably my favorite of the 5 editions so far. $135 is a great deal. (If you don't want it, which Costco? :-p)

I had every intentions of buying a bottle of this last Friday but after laying out $500 down payment on the wife's new SUV I thought I might need that money for the sampler trip. That bottle has been there for over 2 or 3 years or more it will wait for me a couple more months.

I love the PHC bottles. I still call The Golden Anniversary the best whiskey I've ever had. But, my opinion, the 27-yr is my least favorite. I only had it once - Bradley Ogden at Caesar's in las vegas - so I don't have tasting notes, but I was disappointed. If I sat down with a bottle in my study and got to know it, maybe my opinion would change. But for now, not my favorite. Good luck though. Majority opinion is that you'll enjoy.
