Howdy hey to Everyone!

Just a bourbon sipper from Mesquite TX.

I started a bit late in this bourbon renaissance (about 3 years ago) but I have been quick to catch up.

Sadly, in Dallas/ TX (Mesquite is bone dry) Bourbon is not very popular so finding any special edition bottles are few and far between. So I grab what I can find.

I prefer wheated bourbons over rye; but love straight rye whiskey over straight wheat whiskey (how's that for odd.)

Here's my favorite top 5 bourbons I have (in order of goodness):

1. Pappy Van Winkle Fam. Res. 15yr
2. George T. Stagg
3. William Larue Weller
4. Four Roses Single Barrel
5. Wild Turkey 101

Welcome aboard BMAC. Lots of good guys on the. Lard from the great state of Texas. Looks like you like some quality bourbons.

I have a few others i like that are within the same range as the top 5, but they are not regular pours.

Such as:

Van Winkle 12yr lot B (BT juice)
Eagle Rare 17 2011
Parker's Heritage Collection Cognac Finished.

I have two other PHC that i have yet to get to: The golden anniversary and the 1st ed cask strength. Finally, i have a bottle of WT American Spirit to get to.

Sometimes i feel like i need a 2nd life time to really enjoy all these bourbons

There's lots of great bourbon & rye here in Dallas if you know where to look... just takes some digging. As you note, Mesquite isn't exactly a hot-bed for booze, but then again I'm in Collin County (McKinney) and the nearest liquor store is 10-12 miles away up in Anna, otherwise it's over to the Colony or down to Addison...

Lots of great whiskey lovers here in Dallas... we get together every so often and would love to have you join us. Just drop me a PM if you are interested and I, or one of the other guys, will be sure to drop you a line next time we have a gathering.

FWIW: you can feel free to love the wheaters and they ryes - and any other combinations you choose! No one right/wrong way to have a preference.
