I got into the have to try something new mood. While at a local grocery store buying food, I noticed the Makers 46 on sale. I thought this was just a gimmic when it came out, and hadn't bothered. It's actually pretty good, but rather pricey in the high $30s (with tax more like $40). I'm going to try and save some for guests. It goes down real easy. I still think I prefer Weller 12, regardless of price.
Starting out this evening with lots of OGD114. This is one of those easily obtainable bottles that is so damn good it keeps me drunk AND out of the bunker.
I am cooking dinner and having a large pour of Old Grand Dad 86-proof on the rocks.

Boss bought a couple pours of Makers 46. This bottle was much better than the one I have open at home. Of course, it could be that it was better because he paid for it.![]()
WLW 2011. Found one near me for a good price, so I thought I'd open the one I had to see if it was worth replacing. I like it a lot - lots of cinnamon, butter, and syrup. A breakfast for adults!
edit: Also had a sip of the Smooth Ambler Yearling, a few days after opening. While the new wood is still strong in the nose, on the palate it's like melted buttercreams. Not complicated but really, really tasty. I like it now and I'm sure I'll love an older version.
