Current OWA vs. Current Weller 12

So, I am enjoying OWA (current release for all of you experts with 200 bottles of OWA from the 70's) tonight. Really liking it's smooth, brown sugar sweetness and spicy kick. Which do you prefer CURRENT OWA or CURRENT Weller 12? I SLIGHTLY lean to Weller 12.

Love both, the power and density of the OWA on the other side the smoothness and creaminess of the Weller 12. Currently sipping on a 50/50 of the two bottled up this past weekend.

I do love me some weller 12. But due to proof preferences I lean toward OWA. Due to the generous information sharing on this board I will never have to choose. I drink them both, mixed 1:1 in the same glass. Who says you can't have your cake and drink it too?

That's a tough call. I think they're different enough that each satisfies a different mood. OWA is sweeter and peppier while 12 is warmer and more subtle. Which one I reach for depends on the night.

They are certainly different, amazingly so.

I prefer the Weller 12 for the reasons already mentioned--a little sweeter and smoother to my tastes. I'm a fan of ORVW, which I used to be able to find on the shelves regulalry. I think the Weller 12 is the closest thing to Old Rip, so maybe that's why I'm a little partial to it over the OWA.

I agree ORVW is fantastic. Too bad BT/Van Winkle decided to ration it so drastically. Ridiculous for a bourbon that is distilled, aged and bottled by a current distillery.

Yeah I realize I fit into Chuck Cowdery's ignorant and ill-formed group by saying that, but I stand by the statement..

Sadly, Weller 12 never makes it way to NJ apparently. But I will be on the hunt for it once Trade Show season starts.

That being said, I am big fan of the OWA and currently consider it one of the best bourbon price/Quality ratio wise there is.
