probably not fair, but we poured the Kirkland anejo ($20) and the Clase Azul reposado ($100) and did a blind taste test. I found the Kirkland thin with a strong alcohol smell. The CA was way smoother and sweeter. We'll have to see how the Kirkland does in a margarita; otherwise it's $20 down the drain--literally.

I actually like the Kirkland Anejo neat, but putting it next to Clase Azul is unfair in every way. It should be a fine mixer.

This. They're not in the same class. It's like trying to compare JB White Label to PVW15. It's not really a fair fight.

Clase Azul is in the class of tequilas that is VERY sweet. That might be the type you like best. NOM 1472 makes them a bit more earthy and often with more fruit. I really like Kirkland as an aged mixer for the price, but I'd never expect it to as good as something that costs 5x as much.

Starting early on a beautiful day here in Chicago. Was hoping my order from Hi Time Wine Cellars would arrive today but it looks like tomorrow's the arrival day, so I'm sipping on some Gran Centenario Reposado and an ice cold Bohemia. This will be a fun evening!

sob is coming over tonight. We'll probably mix it up with tequila, bourbon and scotch. Small tastes of a lot of things. Maybe a blind tasting bracket or something.

I know that we'll drink Angel's Envy, Balvenie Peated Cask 17 year and Aberlour A'Bunadh. Everything else is up in the air.

I've got a shipment coming from Hi Time tomorrow as well. Both nights should be good ones.

I'm in the near western suburbs and can see the Sears Tower from my corner on a clear. As I always say, "Have liver, will travel!"
