I wish more companies would do this as well. I've gotten some inklings that Casa Noble may release a barrel proof sometime soon (not a joven).

I certainly hope so - although, I think Tequila doesn't quite need the cask strength like bourbon does to shine. BTW, thanks for reminding me I have one of these in the bunker:

I agree about tequila and proof. More proof than 80 would be nice but I find 100 proof to be pretty reasonable with tequila and still get plenty of flavor where other spirits can carry cask strength or at least proof over 100 and still be a pleasant drink.

My same logic applies better to tequila than to bourbon. I have my own water. I do not need to pay to ship someone else's water across a national border.

I know, but the añejo makes a great margarita

Can someone recommend a good tequila? My birthday is coming in July and I want to switch it up from my usual bourban/scotch choices. Right now I'm leaning toward getting Don Julio 1942 but I'm open to suggestions.

I am sure Max can offer some suggestions. I presume you are looking for something to sip neat? The DJ 1942 is very nice but certainly pricey. I am really enjoying anejo's from Excellia and Fortaleza recently. Neither are exactly bargains but a bit less than the 1942.
