Buncha new stuff on the Michigan Liquor list!

A butt-load (J-lo sized) of new Heaven Hill products on the Michigan list as of June 3, 2012.

    ECSB 20 y/o $130
    EW White Label BiB $15
    EW 1783 $17
    Mellow Corn BiB $10
Evan Williams Apple Orchard (!!!) $13

    Others:
Traverse City Whiskey Co. SBW $27 (86 proof)
    Kilchoman Machir Bay $57
    Isle of Jura Prophecy $80

Particularly excited about the EW white label and Mellow Corn.

That's great news! I've been stretching out my supply of EW BIB due to the lack of availability and considering grabbing another MC next time we're in KY. Hopefully, they'll expand the markets elsewhere as well.

that's good news. we don't get EWWight here in NYC. Maybe we will if this is an indication of wider distribution.

Another bourbon we don't get is Old Forester 86 or Signature, we only get the birthday bourbon, and I've seen the prohibition repeal aniversary bourbon on the shelf, but we don't get the regular stuff, and ... we also don't get VOB, but you might have known that already, just the 1792. If you need a $600 bottle of scotch, we have plenty of that, or handles of Hennesy for $60, 2 for $109.

It's okay, but can't compare to VOB BiB. Here they're about the same price, which is why I never buy the EW.

We don't get VOB BiB in Michigan, we only get the 90 proof VOB. I'm expecting the EW White to tide me over when I'm out of Heaven Hill White label BiB in between trips to Kentucky. Not expecting to blown away, but excited that more value pours and bonds are coming to The Mitten.

As of June 3, with this new batch, the number of whiskeys labeled as bonded sold in this state will double. Currently all we have is OGD and McKenna 10 y/o SB BiB. Of course, Rock Hill Farms and 4R Single Barrel are both available and are technically bonds although they aren't labeled as such. The only corn whiskey available for the longest time was Platte Valley, which is fine, but not great. The Hudson was added last month and now the Mellow Corn. Nice to have more variety in that category too.

Also, for the more refined whiskey drinkers, Jack Daniels TN Honey will be available in handles for $45 and 750 ml of Black Velvet Toasted Caramel will be available for a mere $13. Stock up now.

And yes, let's hope this is a good sign of increased distribution all over!

As a recent convert to EW 1783 as a value pour, I have found that "value" varies considerably. In KY, it is $12, in VA it's $14, and in GA, $17. On a percentage basis, that's a huge spread. Availability in MI is a good thing but at $17, I won't be making any special trips to MI. Even from Toledo, that sits right smack on the border.

    I assume these are bourbons.
Do you know who distilled them?
    If not, care to speculate?
