Re: Buncha new stuff on the Michigan Liquor list!

I would appreciate the Alibi sentiment more if they cut the price by at least half.

    For the sake of comparison:
    Seagram's 7 $12
    Kessler $9
    Old Grand Dad 114 $23
    VOB 90 $13

I also find it oddly appropriate that they are choosing to link the brand with people making poor decisions.

Advertising creative notes, "Alibi is an elixir for the flawed human spirit in all of us... Alibi is for real people, real drinkers and believes that at one time or another, everybody needs an alibi."
I'm immediately reminded of the slogans printed on the "OK Soda" cans (from the "OK Manifesto", quoted from the Wikipedia article on OK Soda):

What's the point of OK? Well, what's the point of anything?
OK Soda emphatically rejects anything that is not OK, and fully supports anything that is.
The better you understand something, the more OK it turns out to be.
OK Soda says, "Don't be fooled into thinking there has to be a reason for everything."
OK Soda reveals the surprising truth about people and situations.
OK Soda does not subscribe to any religion, or endorse any political party, or do anything other than feel OK.
There is no real secret to feeling OK.
OK Soda may be the preferred drink of other people such as yourself.
Never overestimate the remarkable abilities of "OK" brand soda.
Please wake up every morning knowing that things are going to be OK.
I hope the marketing works better for Alibi than it did for OK Soda...

By the by, the same parent company (Panache Imports) is also releasing a bourbon, http://www.alibibourbon.com. I get the impression that the brand seems to be trying to latch onto the same young demographic that buys small-label super-premium vodka in fancy bottles.

I speak on the record to revise and extend my earlier remarks. They ought to cut the price by at least 2/3rds.

Yes, I think they are going after the young market. I don't like their odds, though.

They would have to pay me to drink it, squire.
