You know you spend a lot of time in a store...

...when the owner greets you and tells you, "We were worried that you had left town.", and then says, "Hold on a moment. I have a bottle you might like.", and then he brings out a bottle of Pappy 15 that has been hiding in his desk since October.

This is why I like this store, and love the people there.

Great story and kudos to that owner! This is the kind of relationships many shop owners fail to develop. All too often we hear stories of price-gouging owners and other BS, especially when it comes to the Van Winkle line. That owner probably passed up some short-term profit knowing it would pay dividends in the future - and he was probably right. Even if I was not the one he held the VW for and I was local, I would make the extra effort to shop there after hearing that story.

That's how we do it at my store. PVW and the like only for the best customers!
