Re: What Bourbon Are You Drinking? - Summer 2012

Rough night, took a huge spill out bicycling yesterday. Mostly just my pride hurt more than anything. Good thing for helmets-just need to get a new one now-Cracked the old one good! Head is ok.

Extra heavy comparison pours of Weller 12 and Lot B.

Now, I just need to work out the general stiffness for the spill. Going to be a slow day.

The guy above likes his Weller any way he can take it. And he's got plenty, so it's not like it's going to waste.

I think WLW is a blending superstar. Yesterday I mixed 3 parts ND OGD 86, 1 part WLW, and a splash of Bulleit rye, and after a few minutes to mix, it tasted great! It seems that the WLW imparts its rich, buttery thickness to a blend, even when it's a relatively small part of it.

Now if that guy was pouring WLW in Coke . . . I might agree (but then again, what one does with their whiskey is their business).

That blend sounds pretty interesting actually! If you can take a small amount of something wonderful and bump up another bottle of something else a couple of notches - makes sense to me.

No WLW in mine, but having the best pour of SB blend I've ever had ... I think a 1.75:1 OWA to W12 will be the new go-to.

Enjoying some FR1B OESF while watching the Olympics...damn fine bourbon with lots of white fruit and some fall spice. I was never really a fan of the "F" yeast until this past spring when we had the opportunity to pick from some of the oldest stocks in FR's rickhouses...this one has a great mouthfeel and at 121proof it drinks like 100.

Hey, Bob. Sounds interesting, but what is "white fruit"?
