Re: What did you pass up today? Summer 2012

I was in Europe for the past week in Paris and Rome. I passed on a green label Blantons in hopes of a greater score later, but that turned out to be the only half interesting bottle of whiskey I'd find the whole trip. Came home with plenty of wine and a bottle of Calvados instead.

Ritt 27. I have one bottle, haven't opened it yet. Wish I would have, as the price was right but too high to have another bottle of something I may not like.

Did you mean Ritt 21/23/25? I have never heard of Ritt 27.

Passed on a Handy Rye at $80. I then picked up the last bottle of Weller Antique in the store, but another shopper noticed me lingering over the bourbons and asked if I could recommend a bottle. He said he liked Maker's and wanted to try something new, so I just handed him the Weller and left empty-handed. It was the first time anyone asked me for a suggestion. Plus, I was really craving Weller 12, which has disappeared from all my local stores.

Passed up Stetson, Jesse James and Berkshire. All new or fairly new entries around here and proof (to me) of the decline of the decline of the Bourbon market... At least in NJ.

Evan Williams 7 year 375 ml for $7. A bit much, considering that's about the price of a 750 of the NAS stuff.

Re: What did you pass up today? Summer 2012

Left work at lunchtime for the day so I made some rounds. Passed on a few Vintage 17s, ORVW 10/90 (but got one for a friend), and Handy at $90 (and a couple Ardbeg Day bottles at $99).

edit - and a WT Tradition for $120. Should I think twice about that one?
