JPS 18 Dilema...

So I brought my open bottle of JPS 18 to a friend's house to sip on. He loved it so much he asked me to find him a bottle.

I found one...but now I question which one to give him?

I have two unopened bottles of JPS 18 Batch#25 bunckered (bottle #'s 342, and 456). The one I found is Batch#10 bottle number #53Which do I give my friend?

Batch 10 or 25?

Which one is better?

That is my dilema that I could use all your help on.

If you have had and like Batch 25, then give the Batch 10. If you're feeling adventurous and want to try different batches, then give a Batch 25.

Anyone know the full story on the batches? The 18 year has been available for a while now. Is it tanked at this point?

Yeah, I figured it would be a toss up. The story I have on JPS is that Jefferson has/had 300 SW barrels which were aging since 91. Since they released it as a 17yr, then as an 18 year twice or more in a row...it's either tanked or they dumped all the barrels and mixed the different ages. If the later is the case it shouldn't matter from batch to batch. If they are actually still pulling barrels each time they do a batch...then it does matter.

It seems to me that the information needed to make a decision is not out there. Which barrels were honey barrels depends largely on where they were stored during most of their ageing (and other factors). As far as i know there has been no dissemination of information by trey zoeller about what a "batch" is or any other such info that would lead us to making an informed decision. I like the bottle i tasted but its a crap shoot on which one to buy or hold.
