Tell me about it! I've got one bottle left, and I'll be nursing it all the way.ORVW 12yo ryeI love this stuff, but it's sort of a bitter-sweet sentiment, as I may never own another bottle

Dave, I ran across this one dusty bottle in a small little liquor shop that I don't usually frequent. I had been searching for months and had all but given up when I stumbled across this one. Good luck in your search, but forget about the Liquor Barn or other large chain stores.
Yeah, maybe we'll find out who our true friends are when they show up with a bottle or two at festival timeSurely you must know someone with a few cases Bunkered away

No, it's not a special occasion, although, inexplicably, I saw a squirrel playing in my front yard today -- AFAIK, at least a mile from the nearest nut-bearing tree or semblance of open space. I am looking to finish off a few bottles, and the GTS was down to a drink or two.
I sincerely thank whoever it was who convinced me to start experimenting with adding water. (Chuck C.?) My first splash still left me recoiling from a normal-sized sip. The second splash did the trick, but left me wondering just how much I had lowered the proof. (I plan another post on dealing with that issue.)
For the first time I am detecting notes of tobacco in the nose. Of course, I know from my 20+ years of smoking a pipe that there are many distinctive tobacco odors, from the nose-curling sharpness of perique to the barely discernably fragrance of Maryland. I make the aroma in the current instance to be more like Kentucky burley, which I suppose is only to be expected.
Yours truly,
Dave Morefield
Tonight it's Evan Williams Master Distiller's Select. This is my first taste of any Evan Williams variety, and I'm quite pleased.

Jug On, Tommy. What do you plan to do with the extra cork?
Does any one know why it has the extra cork?Jug On, Tommy. What do you plan to do with the extra cork?
stoneware dries out corks. If you're in and out of the jug alot, the cork will definitely break. HOW'S that for a quick guess?
