Passed on a few 2010 THH's and some 2009 & 2010 OFBB's this weekend. May go back for one of Handy's but am trying to budget for the 2012 PHC's that I plan to buy
Passed on some Wiser's Legacy and Rendezvous Rye the other day. May go back for one or both though.
I guess "give 'em the bird" isn't just a marketing slogan, it's a brand management strategy, too.
Get the Legacy, half a bottle in mine, it's a darn good rye!!

Legacy is that good, huh? I've not had either.

I'll get this thread back on track...was browsing SB about 30 minutes ago when I decided to check the store across the street from my parents' house. I was surprised to find a Vintage Rye 23 ($99) and a AH Hirsch 16 Gold Foil ($300), but passed on both. $300 for the gold foil is actually the lowest I've seen it in the wild, but that much money buys an awful lot of bourbon.
Unfortunately, it appears that most (all?) of the small batch/single barrel/limited releases are bottled by American companies and shipped back to Canada (Royal Canadian small batch & Caribou Crossing from Sazerac, Masterson's, Jefferson's, Whistlepig etc).
From limited experience, of the currently available offerings bottled by the producers:
Alberta Premium, 100% rye, 40%ABV. (If you find a dusty bottle of 25yo or 30yo GRAB IT!!!)
Forty Creek, they are all good. (I'm looking forward to the newly released port wood reserve)
Wiser's (small batch, legacy, 18yo) are all good but the best bang for your buck is the Legacy.
Danfield's 21yo
Crown Royal XR is good but, IMO, not worth the $180Cdn (knock out the 1 and it might be on my shelf)
