A bottle of JPS 17YO Batch 3 for $100... was that a mistake?
no, not a mistake, I would have passed on it for less.
Whether it is a mistake is really more a matter of personal choice. It is higher than it was originally at retail but depending on where you are that may unavoidable and a low batch JPS 17yo seems to be getting increasingly rare. If you really want it, and you can afford it, then it is not necessarily a mistake.
Having liked the JPS 18yo I have and wanting to try the 17yo, which has generally had very positive reviews that I recall and which I have never seen on the shelf (although admittedly I haven't had the chance to go to many stores outside my home area recently), I would have at least seriously considered buying it myself.

Passed on some 2011 Handy at 2012 prices.
I guess "give 'em the bird" isn't just a marketing slogan, it's a brand management strategy, too.
Passed on a bottle of the St. George 30th Anniversary Edition Single Malt Whiskey.

It was pretty with the shiny black box and all but not $400 worth of pretty for me. But might be just the ticket for somebody else!

I would be tempted by that one if they also agreed to come by and do my yard work for a year.
Passed on a 1.75 of Weller Special Reserve. Don't see too many of the family sized bottles of the Weller around here. Had the "aged 7 years" label on the neck as opposed to the 90 proof. Can someone tell me how long ago the label change happened? Thanks
