I completely understand where you're coming from. Several posts discussing an exchange between two posters; not exactly the topic at hand.

But I think the whole 'Peasant' thing is actually pretty relevant to the Weller 12 - Lot B relationship. Socioeconomic status symbolism is at least a huge factor in defining the difference between the two whiskies. Also, the fear that one of the exemplar everyman "Peasant" whiskies could become just as inaccessible and elevated as the Van Winkle line drives is pretty much the premise behind the topic.

Also, everyone should look up Peasant on Urban Dictionary.

The very first post about the so-called "fear tactic" was because of Weller 12's relationship to Lot B. If there was no relationship, there would be no fear tactic. Without that supposed relationship, there would be no thread.

I don't know about other states, but I can tell you that Weller 12 is definitely not available for purchase by retail stores through their distributors in Kentucky at the present time. The distributor I know has no time table for when it will become available again. It was last distributed in the fall on allocation. My local stores ordered 10 cases, received 3. Some very large stores (i.e. Liquor Barn) may still have some in inventory, but no new supply is available as of now.

FWIW, The Party Source received a shipment of all sizes of Weller 12 in the last two weeks.

I can add that some of the Liquor Barn stores in Lexington has received another shipment of Weller 12. I was in a store the other day and they had a several bottles on the shelf and I asked the manager about it. She told me they had just gotten in another shipment the day before. Plenty to be had here in Lexington, Ky.

Not only has there been a new release of Weller 12 (my local store received several cases also) but also an additional release of PVW, albeit very limited.
