I wouldn't say there's been any real change in Forester, per se, over the 40 or so years I've been drinking it, but if there's a choice I will always pick an older bottling (80s) because back then all the whisky went into the brand as opposed to now when the cream is being skimmed to create Woodford and Birthday.

When did the white label completely disappear?
Well it went from paper to plastic, hmm, six years or so back, but the current look is rather recent.
The OF of the 80s is much better than the current release. It's one of my favorite bourbons. The OFBB 2005 has a very similar profile to the 80s OF and is a personal favorite.
Got to agree jf, I will reach over more than a few to get to the Birthday.
Unless I'm wrong and they have a column still in Versailles now but I haven't found anything that says otherwise.
Here's a thread from '09 on Old Forester with pics and and all http://www.straightbourbon.com/forum...dimpled+bottle
