Need to catch up here. Last Friday (each in small amounts) - ETL, EC18, OWA, OGD BiB and RR BiB in that order.
Last Sunday - V17 and JPS18...the V17 is growing on me, and the JPS18 is just outstanding.
This evening - EWB and Bookers.
Old Grand Dad BIB.
As I said elsewhere I like that one a lot! I have two bottles squirreled away, and that's hoarding by my standards.
I think the OFBBs (and the EWSBs) benefit greatly from the use of glencairn or snifter glasses. As you said the nose is great, and that kind of glassware really enhances it.
Agreed. I've really enjoyed my Glencairns since they arrived last week. Sometime I miss the weight of the heavier square tumbler that use to be my bourbon glass, but the Glencairns really add to my experience each pour.

That's the perfect word to put in front of "vanilla", it is very broadly vanilla. At first I couldn't identify it, then decided it HAD to be termed vanilla, but it was so broad, not focused like vanilla bean, with those wonderful aromatics. But the nose really is sweet. I thought briefly of an almond liqueur, or hazelnut maybe, but finally settled on vanilla - broad vanilla.
Bourbon based cocktail with lunch.
I cracked open a bottle of the EH Taylor Single Barrel, from Binny's. I don't get a lot on the nose right now, but often don't when I first open a bottle. I like the flavor and finish a lot though. Very bold and spicy up front, followed by just the right amount of sweet. Kind of like a distant cousin to Wild Turkey. I don't know how old it is, but I get the impression that a few more years and it may lose something to the oak.
Doing a side by side tonight. Standard OWA and OWA TPS SB. While both are excellent pours, the TPS is a little sweeter and more caramelly. Jay knocked it out of the park with this one. And only $20.99 for a 750ml. That's just crazy shit cheap.
Anyone want to split a case?
