An after lunch pour of a MSL selection of 2002 EWSB. Nice job by the selection team. Great nose. A little hot in the mid to late palate (the alcohol sort of "blooms"). Most noteworthy is the really long finish, which travels all the way to my chest.

I'm currently finishing off a version of Dave Wondrich's Holdfast cocktail (as seen in Whisky Advocate) made in this case with Mellow Corn BiB, Fee's Barrel Aged Bitters and a splash of Gran Marnier. Refreshing!

On my first taste of the 2011 4R SmB LE. I know this puts me in the minority, but it doesn't really work for me. Thankfully, the SB'er that gifted me this sample also included the 2012 offering, so I can do a side by side.

On my first taste of the 2011 4R SmB LE. I know this puts me in the minority, but it doesn't really work for me. Thankfully, the SB'er that gifted me this sample also included the 2012 offering, so I can do a side by side.

I like them both but they don't wow me like they did at first. The 2012 in particular is very balanced...almost too balanced. I certainly cannot find fault with it at all and I think it's a good example of what bourbon should taste like.
