The 12 is bolder, richer, rounder and of course older.
Will have to depend on Squire's judgement as I have not had it before. It has been a while since I had the standard expression as well. I got it because several people had noted it was as he described, a significant step up for not a big price jump, and it included single pot still whiskey in the blend with single malt and grain whiskies. Thought it would be a good comparison to The Irishman 70 which is less expensive and younger but only has pot still and single malt without the grain. Probably won't crack it open until closer to the holiday.
