Last time I was in Bardstown they still had the brand at Toddy's but the age statement was 8 years and the proof had dropped to 86. I believe the brand is now discontinued.
That VROHH 10 yr 100pr was a stunningly fantastic whiskey. If I remember correctly, it was like $13, or so. When the word hit SB that it was being discontinued ('06ish-'07ish, maybe?), it was right before KBF which I was going to, so I planned on picking up several cases. But, they were all gone by the time I got there.

Drowning my sorrows at the Gazebo Table later that night was a pick-me-upper, though.

Joe that brings up a good point. Sometimes I think our newer (younger?) members may think our veteran's musings over the dusty bottles may be a little misplaced. While it's true we have wider variety of quality Bourbons today it wasn't that long ago, before single barrels and small batches, that the major houses put their best barrels in their top end brands which were 8-10 years old and 100 proof. 8-10 BIBs were the standard for the best in show and there were some really good ones. Even the second lines were 7 yr/90 proof and well priced.

    Gone but not forgotten.

Many may disagree with me but I think Beam still does this, to the best of their ability-- Knob Creek at 9 and 100 pf, and Black Label at 8/86 (formerly 7/90). Whether they're well priced might be a separate conversation.
Life's too short, and there's too much good whiskey within reach.

I think that in general there is a psychological tendency to overestimate how good things used to be compared to how they are now. On the other hand, I also think that my previous statement may just be a coping mechanism for how jealous I am that I was unable to partake in those old bourbons.

There are plenty of folks with plenty of dusties. So, many of them are memories of last night not the last millenium. I'm sure you'll be able to taste some of yesteryear if you ask someone.

Did you type that right? Several cases? Points for knowing what you like and trying to bunker deep!

Yes, but planned, not executed, was the operative verb on the several case purchase above.

I may be getting a second bottle of PHC 2012 (66.6) if my sister gets to the store in time today.

That's very nice whiskey, CW. You're going to really love it. The way you did the pictures in the attached and different framing thingee is really impressive, too, BTW!
