Books that you have read and enjoyed

Good day

I am enjoying the book “But always fine Bourbon…”. I was looking to purchase Bourbon, Straight . On his site Chuck Cowdery’s site it says "The print edition is a trade paperback" and then "If you prefer, the print edition is also available from Amazon"

Stupid question: What is a Trade Paperback and how will it be different from the book I get from Amazon?

A trade paperback is that style of paperback that is a little taller than your standard sell-millions-of-copies popular (and usually fiction) paperback (think of all those Dan Brown/Tom Clancy/Robert Ludlum books). Those "mass market' paperbacks are a little shorter (and possibly a little narrower) than trade paperbacks (think of things like travel guidebooks, or poetry anthologies, or or titles related to fishing or hunting.) It's just a term of art in the publishing/bookselling world.

Mass market paperbacks are about 7" tall. Trades are usually about 8.5 inches tall. This sometimes varies, but it's just a dimension issue. Content is unaffected.

They are basically the same price. The only difference is Chuck will sign it if you get it through him.

I agree with" Blood and Whiskey The Life and Times of Jack Daniels", fascinating read with lots of history of early whiskey not just JD

"Chasing the White Dog" by Max Watman and "Me and My Likker" by Pocorn Sutton are great books on Moonshine

The wettest County in the World" by Matt Bondurant is a novel that was the basis for the movie Lawless is a good read with lots of bootlegging moonshing

Just searched Amazon and found "Chasing the White Dog" for less than $3 used. I went ahead and ordered it.

Only two used copies of "Me and My Likker" come up at $150+. I searched a couple other places such as Alibris, eBay and Google with no luck. Either no stock or more than $150. Anyone got an idea where to get an affordable copy?

About a year ago I read a book called Boozehound, on the trail of the rare, the obscure, and the overrated in spirits by Jason Wilson. I thought it was fairly entertaining to read. My favorite part is when he spends pretty much the whole book railing against the over popularity of vodka. My wife kept wondering why I was laughing so hard.

Its $50 here. A little expensive for a spiral bound book, but its hilarious and has some great insight from Popcorn

I'll second Boozehound. Obviously isn't focused solely on bourbon or even whiskey, but quite an entertaining read. It also opened me up to being more adventurous in my cocktail selection.
