I was not. It was the first sip of anything besides water or the tea I had at lunch that day. I'm still a bit of a newb especially when it comes to rye, but Whistle Pig seems like a totally different animal to me.

I think you misunderstand what 95% rye refers to with respect to Willett and other LDI ryes. The mashbill consists of 95% rye and 5% barley; 95% does not refer to a vatting with a non-rye whiskey.

In the case of Willett, it's a single barrel offering. That whiskey is 5 years old, all of it.

Was going to say this but I see Jim has it covered.

I love these young Willett ryes. Had a four-year old that was incredible, currently have a five-year old that is very good and another 4 year in the bunker.
Life's too short, and there's too much good whiskey within reach.

nice pour of some baby Saz tonight.

Been some time since I've had one open, still a sweet rye.

I've seen a couple in the wild recently, but haven't been too keen on the price attached to them.

They are all over in the Twin Cities at the $25-$30 range.

Baby Saz has definitely made a stock resurgence in the NY/NJ area, generally at $29.99, which I consider a reasonable price for this whiskey. Would love a bit cheaper, but I think it is great stuff.

Having a pour of VWFRR. This is some very good rye! I will try to make this bottle last a while, but it will be tough to stay away!

Thanks, last one I saw out of state was pushing in the high $30's.

Did pass one up in town yesterday at $29.

But already have a couple for the time being, and that's good enough for now.

Besides, the misses has put more of a travel restriction on me now with a the new family addition. But I wouldn't trade him for anything. It's the greatest thing in the world to come home after a crappy day and see that little face light up at you. Melts the grump right away......
