I found out this morning at 10:30 CST. Buffalo Trace emailed a short announcement. Yesterday we were helping him pick a name for his new dog. Everyone is shocked. So sad.

Wow, very sad indeed. I have very much enjoyed the TPS selections from A. Bowman. I actually have A special bottle being saved for my 40th to share with my twin. It is the 18 year old SB that was distilled on our bday in '93. Will have a nice pour of the 19 year old tonight.

Sad, sad day my friends. Way too young. Going to crack a L&K 14yr John J. Bowman in your honor brother.

RIP Truman. You will be missed.

I have been trying to think what to post on here all day. Truman never got a chance to get his feet wet at Bowman's. It's just such a missed opportunity he could have been one of the legends. Such a chance lost too sad.

Very sad. I never met Truman, but "knew" him from here at SB before he got the promotion. Damn shame it happened as his career was peaking. Thoughts to his family at this unexpected tragedy.
Hope is subversive, for it limits the grandiose pretensions of the present by calling into existence the possibility of something better.
I was up there a little less than a year ago. I was the only person for a tour but Truman still spent almost two hours showing me around. I mentioned that I collected actual used barrel heads. Truman went into the back and produced a used Bowman barrel head. I asked him to sign it, which he did. He was so gracious and will be missed.
So sorry to hear this sad news. The bourbon world will miss him.

Very sad news indeed. It's taken me a while to be able to post my thoughts here.
Whenever I met Truman, he always took the time to chat with me for at least a few minutes regardless of how busy he was. The other thing that sticks out in my mind was how he greeted me, and probably everyone else too. It was always with a big smile, and a hearty handshake. That's how I'll remember Truman. That, and that he was also a helluva barrel dancer too.
Cheers Truman. You were truly one of the good guys, and you will be sorely missed.
