Re: Making a trip to TPS, what should I get?

I'd pick up a Willett rye and a bourbon. I've never had a bad bottle from them and they are not offered in my area, so I always pick up a couple when I'm in town.

Just went thru there on my way back from Nashville to PA. A couple of the TPS private barrels I picked up were the Willet 5 yr SB, Bowman SB #45 and Hancock Presidents Reserve. However, a real gem if you can't get it where you are is Ancient Ancient Age.

TPS is no longer doing AAA selections. BT has cut them off.

Damn! I had not heard that. Thanks for the update. Time to nurse the couple I have left in the bunker.

Triple A is the only BT product I ever bought by the case.

That is bad news. Like you HP, I think the TPS Triple A 10's have been great (Or, if you've been in a loud pub for a couple of hours with 10 buddies, that's the H&H&H 10 yr ). Much better than the normal release to my taste buds. I have a normal release that was gifted to me at Christmas by a good friend, and though I find it OK, it only makes me pine for the TPS bottle. To me, there is an overall silkiness and richness to the TPS bottling, that the off-the-shelf version doesn't possess.

Words of wisdom from Steve. Make sure you get an increased spending limit for your credit card!

I'll second the opinions for AAA. Add TPS OWA and FRSB 100 proof too.

    Have fun!

Well I picked up a bottle of old scout (TPS barrel selection). Its 7 years old and 120.8 proof, DSP-IN-1. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Does anybody have any thoughts about it?

Sorry about the crappy cell phone picture

I got a bottle a little over a month ago. I like it. I got floral up front with not to much going on in the finish, but for the price and proof a good value. I would purchase this again if it is still available when my bottle is empty but it's not something I'm going to worry about rushing back for.

I'm really excited to see what Smooth Ambler does with it's own stuff though. I've yet to try their Yearling, but from what it sounds like although it is a bit young it shows some potential.
