I guess I'll have to settle for some Rock Hill Farms. Damn, life is rough.
We've agreed before on OF 100 seeming to go downhill (I found it had gotten hot, too). And we now agree on OF 86 having the flavor we used to crave in the OF 100, though at a lower proof. Hey, at least there is a decent backup!I have long been an advocate of the 100 proof expression, but recently the profile seems to have changed. At least that is my perception. I now find it a tad hot and dry. In preparation for some company, of which several will likely want mixed drinks, I purchased a liter of 86 proof OF (original label). I am finding in this much of what I used to love about OF100, but still at a somewhat dissappointing 86 proof.
Gotta make up for all that Beam's 8 Star I drank in college.![]()
It'll get tougher after many of us stock up at the festival this year! Double![]()
Virginia Gentleman, a nice easy-drinking change of pace from the heavier bourbons I have recently been enjoying. Reminds me a lot of Maker's Mark. What is it, about six years old? It has been rumored on this board that VG is derived from a wheated mashbill. If that's the case then it's no wonder it is somewhat similar.
I think you're right Jeff, it's about 6 years old from what I remember hearing as well. I find 'The Fox' enjoyable on a somewhat warm summer night.
Old Rip Van Winkle 10yr old.
It continues to amaze me just how good this stuff is.
So naturally I just continue on drinking it, continuing to be amazed... sort of a never ending cycle.
I had a friend over last night...George T. Stagg....anyone here know him?
Sorry, Dave, You are right. That should have read 101 proof. And a very fine bourbon it is....
