Featherbone bourbon from Michigan?

Saw this odd creature in a store in northern NJ yesterday. Had a pretty steep price ($48) given it appears to be fairly young juice-- according to one webpage I've since read it's a wheated 1-year old bourbon.

Anyone have it? Anyone like it? The packaging is nice enough.

That's nearly $2.00 per month, almost surprised they don't have a big '12' on the label.

I've been to this distillery and the people there are super nice. They're very passionate about what they do and they've set up a really cool little distillery in an old corset factory. This is why it pains me to say that their bourbon is just not very good. It is super young, which they try to balance by going the small barrel route and that doesn't really do the trick. However their resident bartender mixes up some fantastic cocktails and they've got a descent kitchen, so if you're ever in Southwest Michigan I highly recommend stopping in.

I've known some very nice, talented people who were passionate about their work but were unable to sustain their business. Releasing a too young, unbalanced product will not help their prospects.

Thanks for the input, Peterlake. I liked the packaging (gotta give em credit for using wax and not just a plastic cap!), but with that price I think I'll avoid experimenting. At nearly $50 it's hard to justify when a Maker's, Baker's or even a Blanton's can be had.

I have not tried it but I would like to some time. Smart of them to set up shop in wine country too. Reel in the tourists.
