Josh, thanks for linking to this. I had read the review previously, but I got a double dip out of it today, as the top of that page also prodded me for the next review (for the 2009 4R SBLE). I have recently located 2 bottles of this bourbon, and may go back now and pick one or both up, even at $92.
The first rule of being an OGD114 fan is to NEVER talk about OGD114.
Don't let lurkers know about it. it's a well kept secret!
Remember: Loose lips sink ships!
What's the difference between a geezer and a codger?
They are both terrible people - and only fitting descriptions for the lame-brain idiots with no taste or appreciation that drink OGD114.
Remember kids: Only losers drink OGD114. Don't be a loser - buy ONLY authentic, certified Pappy products - or the other guys will make fun of you at the bar, at home and at work. Don't waste your time on this swill when so many other better, harder to find, more expensive and a loftier brand-names are available through your local whiskey vultures waiting list.
Friends don't let friends drink OGD114. Ever.
You can achieve geezerdom with the passage of time - no further criteria are involved. To attain the rank of codger, a passing acquaintance with curmudgeonly behavior is required.
On topic: Why you guys rave about OGD is beyond me. It's too hot, too rye-ey (to the point of being unbalanced), and the finish is too short. For the price of a bottle, you can buy two Evan Williams bottles.
