    Suggestions For Another Bourbon Needed

I have been really enjoying my Jefferson's Presidential Select 18. I have come to appreciate the really woody nature it has. Now though, I am about 1/2 through it, and it's a little hard to find. And even when I do, it's $85-$100.
Sooo, I would like people's ideas for a "replacement" bourbon for the JPS18. Is there ANYTHING that even approximates the taste profile for less money? And by less money, I actually mean <$40?

    Thanks

    Brad
Well, how can it not be McCormick's, the $7 well bourbon of the finest dive bars? Tastes like kerosene and sadness.

Again, I've only had the 17 which is supposed to be a little less woody, but I would say no.

Edit: If you like it that much buy as many as you can afford and drink it slower

Don't know how long your bottle has been open, but the extreme woodiness of my first bottle moderated drastically after a couple of months. So the "bad" news is, if you like the wood, you may actually need to drink it faster. YMMV, of course, and my experience may be bottle-specific. I have two more, but they are not yet open, so I have no additional data.

Everything I can think of as possible substitutes is in the same price range.
You might want to try Vintage 17 or maybe even Rock Hill Farms. For my tasternator the Vintage has similar woodyness and the Rock Hill has similar mouth feel. Neither is a direct replacement and neither is cheap.

Sooooo. You want to find a $40 replacement for a fine $90 - $120 classic? Inebriation perhaps?

I'd just be safe and go with a PVW20

Yeah, but does the taste? I haven't had EC 18 but I'd bet the taste is not close to S-W juice.
