Re: What Bourbon Are You Drinking? Spring 2013

OK it's Friday afternoon and time to kick off the weekend.
Let me do an inventory here first,...
    Rocks glass? check
    Ice? check
    4R1B? check
    Yep I'm ready.

I've been slowly nursing a bottle of 4 Roses single barrel 2012 LE. Every time I have a pour the first sip knocks my socks off. Other than that, I've been draining a bottle of Buffalo Trace and a 1 liter bottle of WT at a pretty good clip. Everytime I get a bottle of regular BT it goes fast.

Just tried ogd86 not a bad pour but not good enough for what it costs In the uk (nearly as expensive as kc and frsmb) the ewsb 2003 on the other hand is a great pour for the price and one I will certainly be replacing.

I had some OGD 86 proof yesterday. It's very good for a $13.00 bottle.

    Today, Weller 12. Mmmmm....

Ogd86 is £28 here and to put that in perspective the last wlw12 I bought was £31.

I think that I would probably see some of the same with scotch prices to you as getting the product there levels the pricing on the lower end to some degree. How much do you pay for balvenie double wood for example

Taxes often unlevel the playing field from country to country as do monopolistic governmental liquor store policies and can more than make up for transposrtation costs. Just ask our Australian and Canadian brethren!

Not to mention the Byzantine liquor laws from state to state here...

Sounds about right for the doublewood with the exchange rate we must just pay ridiculous prices for any imported spirits in the uk. Its why I found it strange when you guys talk about knob creek being overpriced as it is very similar priced to wlw12 rittbib wt101 4rsmb .
