    Speed!

OK, I'm kind of a newbie to this stuff, so I might ask some dumb questions. This one is about speed.

To me, a "pour" is any where from 1 oz & 1/2, to 3 oz's.

How fast do you normally drink one pour? 15 minutes? 1/2 hour? an hour?

Probably a stupid question, as every one is different, but I'm just curious if there is a consensus on this.

I drink the 3rd one a lot faster than the 1st one. That's all I know for sure.

With me, just the opposite. The first one goes down fast, then they get progressively slower.

I try not to go over three, usually.

    Speed!

Size of the pour is arbitrary but time to consume really depends on what's in the glass... It took me about two hours to down a glass of Balvenie Tun the other night but other times it'll be gone in less than 5min.

Depends on what I am drinking. Barrel strength goes down really slow. At 100 proof and under it begins neat in a Glencair, then with just a drop of water, finally on the rocks. By the time I reach that point I have totally lost track of the time.

Depends on how fast you want to get your date drunk.

I remember Hemingway writing about this. He was an expert drinker. He always said to pace yourself and that way you would be able to handle it much better.

Of course, he was talking about drinking all day, pretty much every day, as he got older anyway.

Drinking all day, every day, once you're older, hmmm . . .
