Didn't care for that one last night. Too tart for my taste. Not a bad wine, per se. Guess Valpolicella isn't my thing.

Tonight it's a 2009 bottle of Felino Vina Cobos Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza in Argentina. A GREAT Cab from Argentina for under $20.

A good quality Argentinian Malbec is always welcome in this house.

I also really like Yellow Tail Shiraz. For a cheapo Aussie, you can't beat it.

Don't drinck a lot of reds but I have become a fan of the Malamado Malbec port style wine from Argentina. When I can find it anyway.

Had some great older wines last night at my in laws. Started with a glass of 12' Kim Crawford, great value Sauvignon blanc. Then we had a 2001 Arcadian Gary's vineyard Pinot with cheese. With steak we had a bottle of 1985 Heitz Napa Cab and a bottle of 1988 Ch Montelena cab, both were stellar.

I used to think a really great Sauvignon blanc had to come from New Zealand, but I have tasted some outstanding California and Washington examples... of course, there is very little they can't do well there.

BTW, the Biltmore winery in NC has also been producing some outstanding wines in the last 10 years. Give them a try if you can find them. I think they get the juices from California, NY, and Washington, then do the rest at their facility.

The biltmore wines sell fairly well all the way up here in kentucky. The couple that i have tried have been decent given the price range.

Washington is a value region for wine. Some very good wines at great prices. Charles Smith's lower end wines are a great example.

Enjoying a Brunello Di Montalcino, I need to look at adding a few more Brunellos to the cellar

The usual plonk, found a discounted box of Franzia Red at the local, $12.95 for 5 liters of wine, couldn't pass it up.
