Definitely a rinser, except for pours from the same bottle.
"A man comes from the dust and in the dust he will end-- In the meantime it is good to drink whiskey."
#3 for me, same glass, no rinse, unless at a tasting. Then it's same glass, with a rinse and a swish and swallow to clear the palate.
Rinse and dry between different bottles.
Generally #3 for me. I have been known to rinse, and re-pour, but would be the exception, not the rule.
Try to get the last drop....repourOnly exception is when going from rye to wheatear, or vice-versa then I may rinse....if I remember
"Civilization begins with distillation."
I've done all three, but I too love the smell of the empty glass the following day or later in the day.
Typically 3 unless whatever I poured didn't taste right for any reason. I try to rinse at the end of the night though, as I learned the hard way that the "leftover" can go really bad fairly quickly (and the smell was enough to throw my palate off for a week).
