They already have an approved label.

Yes, I understand, this is their program and their packaging. I'm just saying they could use another label if the customer wanted 100 proof. Whether they will or won't makes no difference to me, at that price I'll stay with the standard Signature brand.

I'm not sure where the 7500/barrel number came from and I'm certainly not the barrel buying expert, but my understanding is that one doesn't work backward from a barrel price on these releases. Pricing for those I've been involved with worked out at (unit price) x (bottle yield) and the unit price was determined by the retailer and wholesaler.

Not if they bottle it at 90 proof.

Squire's point is that if B-F wanted to offer a private barrel bottled as OF Sig, they could. It's their choice not to bottle the single barrels at 100 proof, separate from any label approval.

Why 90 proof anyway? Is this some marketing move toward lower proof expressions?

I got the price from watching Chris Morris being interviewed. He said the barrel cost is around $7,500. I just did some guessing on the math.

I seem to recall Bernie Lubbers saying last night at the HH tasting that at Heaven Hill they had about $125 in each barrel at the start. Don't know if that includes the barrel! And it probably doesn't include employees and overhead. Still, in 4 years that seems like a pretty decent profit!
